command. Every day cannot be another Day of Pentecost. It is not surprising, then, to find that the apostolic church eventually settled down into a pattern of life that integrated with the proper demands and responsibilities of work and business (1 Thess. 4:11–12). Even so, the abiding theme of the Christian life is a thirsting for communion with God (Ps. 63:1–5; 84:1–4). This is why we always see the joyous sharing of lives where there are lively Christians and growing churches.
